Dubai has recently launched a major initiative to enhance the mental health of its residents, known as the ‘Mental Wealth Framework’. Supported by Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this initiative aims to increase access to mental health services and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Dubai Strengthens its Mental Well-being Strategy
The ‘Mental Wealth Framework’ is part of the ‘Dubai Social Agenda 33’, an ambitious project aimed at positioning Dubai among the world’s top destinations to live, work, and visit. With a budget of 105 million dirhams, the initiative will be implemented over five years and includes ten key initiatives.
Uncovering and Implementing Essential Strategies
The initiative focuses on early detection, intervention, and prevention of mental health issues. It includes programs to identify the signs of mental disorders, strengthen the focus on mental health in schools, and provide easier access to mental health care. Studies will also be conducted to assess the needs of the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses.
The Benefits of an Innovative Initiative
The ‘Mental Wealth Framework’ seeks to improve the quality of life for Dubai’s residents by providing high-quality care and support services. It also aims to promote research and innovation in the mental health field, building on the best global practices. Designed to support the diversity and harmony of Dubai’s community, the initiative seeks to enhance psychological and community stability.
Dubai’s new mental health initiative represents a significant step towards improving the mental well-being of its population. By integrating strategies for early detection, intervention, and prevention, along with quality support services, Dubai is positioning itself as a leading city in the promotion of mental health.
