Imdaad, a pioneering company in waste management in Dubai, is at the forefront of innovative waste management solutions. Recently, Imdaad launched the Hatta project, which aims to promote waste separation at the source and utilize refuse-derived fuel (RDF) technology to divert significant amounts of waste from landfills. This initiative aligns with the United Arab Emirates’ sustainability goals and enhances resource management within the community.
A Flagship Initiative for Waste Management in Hatta
The Hatta project, a leading initiative spearheaded by Imdaad in close collaboration with the Dubai Municipality, focuses on waste management and urban cleaning services in Hatta, a major tourist destination in the UAE. The project introduces a dual-bin system to encourage source separation of waste and educates the community on best waste management practices. Furthermore, Imdaad operates 15 treatment plants, processing over 4 million gallons of wastewater daily, and has established a fleet of more than 40 trucks for waste collection and transportation.
The Rise of Waste Combustion Technology
The cutting-edge technology employed by Imdaad, notably its material recovery facility called FARZ, plays a crucial role in waste reduction efforts. The facility enables the recovery of more than 12% of waste from landfills and has recently integrated an RDF plant, diverting approximately 60,000 tons of waste from landfills annually. This technology is part of Imdaad’s broader commitment to sustainability, aligning with the UAE’s Vision 2021 goal to recycle and reuse 75% of waste currently sent to landfills.
Community Engagement and Environmental Awareness
Imdaad’s efforts extend beyond technological innovations. The company engages in regular activities with customers, such as recycling awareness programs and waste management training. These initiatives help educate businesses and residents about the environmental benefits of recycling and proper waste handling. For example, Imdaad organizes events like Envirocare month and participates in DEWA’s Earth Hour, fostering a strong connection with the community for collaborative sustainability initiatives.
Imdaad’s Hatta project and adoption of RDF technology are significant steps towards achieving the UAE’s sustainability objectives. They not only reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills but also promote a culture of sustainability within the community. As Imdaad continues to innovate and expand its services, it solidifies its position as a leader in waste management and environmental management in the United Arab Emirates.
