The Dubai International Baja 2024, a globally renowned motorsport event, is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from November 28 to December 1. This competition, which welcomes cars, buggies, motorcycles, and quads, is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the region, attracting participants and spectators from all over the world.

History and Evolution of the Dubai International Baja

Celebrating its 45th anniversary, the Dubai International Baja has transformed since its inception in 1979 as the Dubai International Rally, becoming a Baja event in 2016. Organized by the Emirates Motorsport Organization, this year’s event is based at the Dubai Festival City Mall and is part of the final stages of the FIA World and Middle East Baja Cups. Since changing its format, the event has adeptly integrated local traditions while expanding its international reach, thereby bolstering the UAE’s image as a premier motorsport destination.

Competition Format and Participants

The format of the Dubai International Baja 2024 includes a 4.32 km prologue in Hatta, followed by two stages of 195 km each in the Al-Qudra desert. With 43 cars entered in various categories such as Ultimate, Challenger, SSV, and Stock, the competition is intense and varied. Twelve teams are vying for points in the FIA World Baja Cup, while 16 are competing for FIA Middle East Baja Cup points. This diversity allows for participants from across the globe, enriching the cultural tapestry of the event.

Favorites and Stakes of this Edition

This edition will feature a tight competition between João Ferreira and Filipe Palmeiro, and Fernando Alvarez and Xavier Panseri for the FIA World Baja Cup title. In the Middle East Baja Cup, Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Dania Akeel, and Majed Al-Thunayyan are among the favorites. These participants are not only prominent figures in motorsport but also ambassadors for their respective countries. The support from partners like Al-Futtaim Toyota and ENOC highlights the commitment of major local and international brands to fostering motorsport development in the Emirates.
